About The Course
This course looks at how people respond to various types of interpersonal conflict, and suggests a problem solving approach and the use of de-escalation techniques to resolve conflict.
We will cover conflict between professionals as well as conflict between staff and service users. This course is also useful for private sector employees who want to learn how to resolve conflicts with their managers, colleagues and customers.
For those working in the criminal justice sector, conflict can sometimes escalate into aggressive behaviour or violent incidents that place staff and service users at risk. Participants are taught to be aware of the warning signs of potential aggressive behaviour and are given some strategies and techniques for de-escalating situations and avoiding violence. For those working in a more traditional business setting, the focus will be on understanding the causes of conflict, managing it and resolving it effectively for the benefit of all concerned.
