About The Course

The key to effective practice is to build a “Working Alliance” with the individual, as a base for work to facilitate positive change in their attitudes and behaviour.

However, In addition to relationship-building skills, the ability to use a structured approach is a vital element of our work.

In this course we will look at two aspects to this structured approach. Firstly, we need to ensure that there is an overall structure and purpose to our sessions. This means being clear about the focus of our work with the individual.

Secondly, once we have clarified our focus and our objectives, we will look at how to use interventions that have a proven track record such as the Cognitive Behavioural Approach, which has led to the development of a range of individual and group programme that use a structured approach within sessions to target a variety of problems.
